Waabnoong Bemjiwang Association of First Nations is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Bookkeeper to work with Waabnoong Bemjiwang Association of First Nations Tribal Council and its member First Nations of Dokis, Henvey Inlet, Magnetawan, Nipissing, Wahnapitae and Wasauksing.
The primary role of the Bookkeeper is to efficiently manage the day-to-day financial transactions and records of the Association while ensuring that all finance policies and procedures are followed. This position is also responsible to prepare and present monthly financial reports to the Board of Directors at their monthly Board meetings and to work with the auditors in preparation of a timely completed draft Annual Audit. The Bookkeeper reports directly to the Executive Director.

CLASSIFICATION: Permanent Part-time
EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a finance department / and or bookkeeping.
- Experience with the financial data base software Sage 50
- Able to draft annual budgets, enter and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, reconcile bank and credit card statements, prepare budget adjustments as required and review and monitor approved budgets with actual expenditures to identify deficits and surpluses.
- Review finance policies and procedures and develop recommended changes as needed.
- Maintain and monitor funding agreements.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License, access to a vehicle, have 1Million Automobile insurance coverage and ability and the willingness to travel when needed.
- Provide a clear Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check if asked.
- Respect for, sensitivity towards as well as knowledge and understanding of Anishinabek culture, traditions, and the Seven Grandfather Teachings
- Possess excellent time management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, excellent research skills, excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, take initiative and work independently, work within a team environment, meet deadlines, work flexible hours and ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
WORK SITE LOCATION
The position will be based out of the Waabnoong Bemjiwang Association of First Nations head office in Henvey Inlet First Nation.
REMUNERATION: Wage ranges between $22.00/ hour – $31.00/hour depending on education and work experience.
