In March 2019, Heidi Manitowabi began her position as Waste Management Coordinator for WBAFN.
Heidi is an Anishinaabe Kwe from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory. She graduated from Environmental Technology at Sir Sandford Fleming College in 2011, and attended the Indigenous Environmental Science program at Trent University in 2012. She has worked in the environmental field in First Nation’s communities and organizations for several years, and has a strong interest in Traditional Ecological Knowledge and applying Anishinaabe values and ideologies to her work.
Her role as the Waste Management Coordinator includes promoting sustainable waste management practices, identifying waste management options, and waste research and analysis support.
